The problem: a hacked website

When we started, 75 Degree AC's website had been hacked. Spam pages had been injected into the site, and Google was crawling and indexing them next to the real service pages. A hacked site can't rank, no matter what else you do, and it tells Google the site can't be trusted.

On top of that, Houston is one of the biggest HVAC markets in the country. Summers are long, AC failures are urgent, and homeowners call whoever shows up first on Google. The site had to be fixed before it could compete.

How we did it

Fix the site first, then every part of local SEO at the same time.

  1. First

Secured the site and removed the hacked pages

We closed the hole the attackers got in through, locked the site down, and removed the spam pages they had added. Then we got those bad URLs dropped from Google so only the real pages were left in search.

  2. Map pack

    Business Profile cleanup

Right categories, full service list, accurate service area, fresh photos and posts. The profile is what shows in the map pack, so it came first.

  3. Website

Pages for each service and area

Separate pages for their core services and the Houston areas they cover, each written for the search it needs to win.

  4. Listings

    Directory listings

The same business name, address and phone on every directory that matters, with the wrong ones fixed.

  5. Trust

    More Google reviews

A simple process for asking customers after a job, because more good reviews help both rankings and the homeowner's decision.

  6. Authority

Links from Houston and HVAC-related sites, not bulk link packages.

  7. Foundation

    Site fixes

Load speed, indexing and internal linking fixed so the new pages actually get found.

What it produced

With the hacked pages gone and the site secure, the SEO work had something solid to build on. Across the engagement, organic search and the Business Profile averaged 35 leads a month for 75 Degree AC. These are calls and form requests from homeowners, not page views.

What this doesn't prove

These are leads, not booked jobs. How many turned into work depends on how fast and how well the office answered. The 35 a month is an average 75 Degree AC reported to us.

We don't have a clean 'before' number to publish here, so we don't claim a percentage increase.
